He then completed his 4 year Chiropractic Degree in 2009 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, Ontario. While at CMCC, he also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Dr. Kersten is also a certified medical acupuncture provider through the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program from McMaster University. He is also a Certified Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist and has taken numerous other courses including Active Release Technique (ART), Functional Anatomical Palpation (FAP), and Building The Ultimate Back: From Rehabilitation to Performance by Dr. Stu McGill.

Kathy is an experienced and well-versed physiotherapist with more than 30 years of experience as a health care clinician. She is originally from London Ontario and graduated from Western University before setting off to live and practice in several different corners of the country, most notably Alberta and British Columbia.

In addition to her clinical experience, Kathy has a focus on hands-on manual therapy that includes certification in sport rehabilitation, Gunn IMS (dry needling) and acupuncture through the Canadian Acupuncture Foundation.

Kathy has also expander her skill set but completing an education in Osteopathy and when working within that scope Kathy is able to offer unique treatments such as craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation and TMJ (Jaw Joint) treatments.

Erik is the co-owner of Pro Function. Formerly of Body Mechanics at Bellwood Plaza, Erik has worked in Orthopaeadic Physiotherapy since graduating from Queen’s University with an MScPT degree in 2006. For some, achieving a career in healthcare is the goal, but Erik always just figured it was a good place to start. Since beginning his career Erik has immersed himself in his profession, completing several post graduate programs and offering his time to several faculties and committees.

Most notably, Erik completed his Masters of Clinical Science in Manipulative Therapy (MClSc) at Western University in 2011 and went on to become a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapists (FCAMPT) - an internationally recognized and highest possible Canadian designation. Even that wasn’t quite enough, Erik doesn’t just excel as an FCAMPT, he also went on to become their elected president!

Erik has done other work as a past executive member for the National Orthopaeadic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, a past president for the London Orthopaeadic Unit, a past faculty lecturer for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and is currently an assistant instructor to several healthcare education programs including the Mulligan Concept, the National Orthopaedic Division and the both of the physiotherapy programs offered through Western.

Back in the clinic Erik is a well-versed and dynamic physio who has a unique ability to work with just about anyone. He has advanced skills and expertise in orthopaedics, manual therapy, pre- and post-surgical rehab, sports injuries, and pain management. Troy is from Rothesay New Brunswick and graduated from Dalhousie University in 2001. After completing 2 years of clinical practice in inpatient orthopaedics at the Saint John Regional Hospital in New Brunswick, Troy’s desire to pursue advanced education led him to drive halfway across the country to complete his Master of Research in Physical therapy at Western University, graduating in 2005. He has been in clinical practice as a physical therapist in London Ontario since then.

Troy’s further pursued professional development by becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapists (FCAMPT) in 2009 and completing a Clinical Doctorate in Physiotherapy in 2013. These credentials helped lead him to become an active instructor teaching advanced manual therapy skills to other physical therapists through the National Orthopaedic Division since 2010, and his role as an associate professor in Western University’s School of Physiotherapy since 2008. In 2011, Troy was awarded the Part-time Teaching Award of Excellence at Western (Health Sciences), as determined by student feedback and reviews.

Troy’s passion regarding education is the central core of his treatment approach. He is known for providing clear information to increase understanding of clinical conditions, and he ensures that patients are full partners in their goals and treatments. Troy offers a range of treatments including manual therapy, condition specific exercises, modalities (such as ultrasound), medical acupuncture/dry needling. Improving a patient’s personal knowledge is viewed by Troy as equally important as improving physical well-being to help ensure future success.

Outside of his clinical practice and teaching activities, Troy is happily married to his wife Christina who is also a health professional (registered dietitian), and a proud father to two energetic young boys. Troy enjoys playing videogames and going outside with his kids, watching and discussing basketball with his wife, getting together with friends for board games, and expanding his knowledge & participation in various nerdy activities.
